The Friendship through Food Cafe is open again from 1st July – that’s this coming Wednesday – for surprise, delicious, Mint Lane foodie goodness!
Mint Lane Cafe is a bit different to a conventional cafe: it uses retail surplus food to provide nourishing, healthy meals at affordable prices.
The menu changes daily depending on what food is available from Fareshare. First on the menu next week will likely be sausage casserole!
It’s an exciting time for the cafe – there has recently been a smart new kitchen installed.
There’ll be a few changes to manage the Covid19 risk – social distancing, a pared down menu, buying from the counter but no sitting at the tables.
But the friendliness of the people – the top reason for loving Mint Lane – won’t change. Nor will the good cooking or the affordable prices.
Meals start from £1 for a starter or dessert, and £2 for a main meal and if you feel you can afford to pay more for good food, you might choose to donate extra to support the cafe, or pay it forward to help out someone else who is struggling at this time.
Hot and cold food and drinks will be available to takeaway straight from the chef.
All food will be served in a biodegradable container (so put it to good use as a plant pot when you’ve finished, or tear it up for your compost, ok?)
There will also be frozen ready meals that you can take home for your tea or to keep you going with good grub over the weekend.
There will also be other groceries for sale at very affordable prices, depending on what is available.
Check out Mint Lane on Facebook.
